Fail at Blogging

Hello again blogging world!

It has definitely been over a year since I last updated. A lot has been going on in my life and the Lord has done some great things.
First, I am now in a position at my job that I love. I now work for the help desk, which mainly consists of helping people install printers on their computers or changing their passwords because they forgot them. I really enjoy this role because this role really gives me a chance to use my PR skills. Most of the people who call in are not in the best of moods and are very grumpy. I am finding that a little empathy and a smile in my voice can go a long way to ease tensions and general grumpiness.

Second, I am currently church hunting and last Sunday, I attended a very small church that is just beginning called the New City Church. This church is only about 3 months old, but I was very impressed and really enjoyed the service when I went. Plus, they have an 11 am service which is great for those days when I have trouble getting out of bed before 9. The pastor is a man from Arkansas who appears to really have a heart for the Lord and is really passionate about outreach and directing people to Jesus. Plus, they have cookies. Who can resist free cookies?! If you are interested in checking it out, visit their website! http://www.newcitychurchkc.org/

Thirdly, it's almost summer and I'll admit, I am really looking forward it to for several reasons. First, Starlight Theatre has an AMAZING season that has me thinking about buying a season pass. http://www.kcstarlight.com/theatre.aspx I mean, I want to see ALL of them! I was also looking forward to seeing John Meyer at Starlight until he decided to cancel his tour. *grumble* As a way to make up for it though, Eric Hutchinson is going to be at the Beaumont Club June 18th for only 20 bucks!! To make it even sweeter, two of my college friends will be joining me for this wonderful concert! I couldn't be more excited!

On a completely unrelated note, I became obsessed with the Hunger Games over the the last year, and yes, I saw the film, and yes, I loved it. I can list my reasons for loving these books, but that's a post for another time.

Until next time friends!

Worship and Send Offs

I saw CYT's North production of Godspell this weekend. Incredible. It was so moving; I have no doubt that show and it's cast were anointed. There are no words to say how much this show meant to me.

Because I was in the original camp however many years ago and that's when my love for this show and the things it represented began. Ever since that camp, my passion for spreading the Gospel in the arts has grown exponentially, and to see it performed again in a way that accurately portrayed Christ and His love for us meant the world to me.

Second, I was wholly impressed with the cast. Literally, EVERYONE did an incredible job. This is not an easy show to take on, and they took it and killed it. It was great too, because it was very obvious to me that the whole show was an act of worship. Not one person in that cast did anything in that show to stroke their ego. No, in every little thing any one in that cast did, it was clearly done for the glory of the Lord as an act of worship, which made it even more of a privilege to see.

Third, there were 17 seniors in this cast. 17. Probably one of the biggest graduating classes CYT KC has ever seen. Needless to say, the end of strike was incredibly sad and involved a lot of crying, more than usual. I have to say though, I am so proud of the senior class. It has been such an honor to watch these incredible young people grow up into the wonderful men and women they are today. I have known some of them longer than others, but I am SO proud of every single one of them. The Lord has such big plans for each and every single one of you, and I cannot wait to see what He has in store for you. :-)

However, just because you are done with CYT does not mean you are dead. This is not goodbye, more like "see you later". We have had the privilege of knowing you so far, and now, we are sending you out to the world to spread His joy and light to the nation(s). You are still young and there are so many incredible things in store for all of you, but no matter what, remember, He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Phillipians 1: 3-9

"3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
7 It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. 8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God."

This is my benediction and send off for all you all. Class of 2011, you are loved and treasured.

Lately

Okay, so I haven't been doing well at this whole blogging thing. I apologize. I can think of every possible excuse in the book, but the truth is, I just haven't done it because I haven't thought it about it. That's right, I said it! I forgot I even had a blog! Crazy, right? Well, in the near future I am hoping to break that habit.

This weekend is CYT KC North's production of "Godspell" (which I am psyched beyond all reason to see). I have been told it's a great show and I cannot wait!!

The weekend after that, I am seeing "Next To Normal" at the Fox Theatre in the St. Louis. I cannot being to even describe how excited I am. I love, love, LOVE this show, but most of all, I am thrilled that I get to see Alice Ripley playing Diana. I mean, Alice Ripley is a freakin' beast. She can dissolve herself to a complete sobbing mess in .2 seconds. Overall, though, "Next To Normal" is just an incredibly sad, but true to life story of a very dysfunctional family and their struggles. A phenomenal show.

To give just a preview of this show's awesomeness, see the Tony Awards performance. Gah! I have no idea how she does it! Incredible.

In other news, I have become completely addicted to "Criminal Minds" recently. I don't know what it is, but after catching a few episodes on tv, I somehow found myself on Netflix ordering the first season. I can't stop, and I am not sure why. Is it the whole idea of FBI profiling? Is it my one suspense show since I only watch funny stuff (The Office, Friends, Boy Meets World, etc.)? Is it because I find the guy who plays Dr. Spencer Reid  adorable? Or maybe because I am totally hooked to figuring out how sickos like that think. Whatever it is, I am addicted, and considering there are 6 seasons and counting, I have a ways to go before I am caught up completely. Oh well, gives me something to do this summer. :-D

Am I the only one who gets addicted to tv shows? Am I the only one hooked on Criminal Minds? What's your favorite tv show and why?

Until next time!

Hello World!

Welcome to my first post! I have to say, the last blog I had, I think I posted maybe once or twice, if that. I truly hope not to continue in that same vein in this blog.

I will most definitely write what's on my heart/mind, which will be a variety of things. I will also post videos and photos and I will (I guarantee) geek out and put many musical theatre related things on here as well. :-)

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy my future posts!
